It is one of the most frequently used capabilities at Red Box Engineering but we also receive the same question on a regular basis; what is sheet metal fabrication?
In brief, it is the process of transforming flat sheets of aluminium or steel into metal products or structures via one of the following methods; cutting, folding, CNC punching or welding.
Usually a variety of tools are used throughout the sheet metal fabrication process, which helps to produce an even cut, whilst large sections of metal can be easily cut by using cutting torches
It is also important to highlight the importance of welding throughout the whole process too, as it is used to prevent warping or other abnormalities appearing within the metal. Fortunately, our welders are experienced in working with aluminium, stainless steel and mild steel using Mig/Tig methods and arc welding, whilst we invested in an electro polishing machine for specialised products which removes the weld burn left behind from the welding process.
Once ready, the metal tends to be finished off by being sand blasted, primed and painted, which results in the metal looking great ahead of it being delivered to the client for the final part of the fabrication process.
