Metal Fabrication for Knowlton and Newman

Red Box Engineering were recently contacted to provide metal fabrication for Knowlton and Newman. They required a recreation of a bracket for a piece of robotic machinery. Rather than providing a mechanical drawing, they had asked Red Box Engineering to recreate the bracket based only on the prototype part they had delivered.

Knowlton & Newman provide a wide range of electrical and mechanical services in the south with a 24/7 response since 1973. They offer an impartial service, which will either repair or replace all types of electric motors, pumps and gearboxes. In addition they repair transformers and industrial electronics. The main industries served by their workshops include marine, water, pharmaceutical, food, aggregates, power generation, petro-chemical and the Ministry of Defence.

Before the production of the bracket could begin, Red Box Engineering took the prototype part and created a 3D drawing using Solid Works. The profile was then cut from 6mm mild steel on the waterjet and formed into shape by folding on the CNC break press.

Prior to their contact with Red Box Engineering they had tried a number of different metal fabrication companies but could not find one able to replicate the part. Fortunately Red Box Engineering had no trouble recreating the bracket and the team at Knowlton and Newman were very impressed with the final result.
